Family and Friends,
We mentioned we might have some big news....and we want to deliver on that commitment :) We have decided to continue serving in Thailand through the end of 2021! You may remember our initial commitment was through the end of this month...welp...God has led us beyond in ways we couldn’t have expected.
We were already praying about extending our time into the fall when an opportunity was presented to be guardians for the two teenage boys who live next to us (you may remember reading about the Cho Family in our January Newsletter and their generosity to provide a home and car for us). After 13 years of serving with OMF in Thailand the Cho’s are being called back to Australia in August. Luca (age 16) and Aiden (age 14), the two oldest boys, will remain behind to finish school. However, there were no other living options for them to live in the same house after their family had left. We sensed God calling us to step into this gap. We will move in with them this summer and form a little family of our own for the remainder of the year.
We are excited for the opportunity to love the Cho family in a new way and prayerfully have a positive influence on the lives of Luca and Aiden.
Highlight
Here is a quick snapshot!
- Peace and confidence throughout the decision making process to stay longer in Thailand and care for Luca and Aiden.
- Serving as facilitators during the Family Connection Foundation Staff retreat. Eirenee’ led worship and Ross led fun-tivities and game time.
- God’s provision through your gracious giving enabled us to be 100% funded in March. We are blown away by your generosity! This is the first month we have been fully supported.
- Opportunities to bless others financially beyond our typical tithing (much of this is as a direct result of your giving).
- Covered 12% of the costs to translate into Thai a gospel-centered book on motherhood. There are very few gospel-centered, Thai resources.
- Covered the cost of a pig (meat for 2-weeks) that fed a recent Bible Leadership Training.
- Covered the truck repairs for a local teacher who is constantly driving to minister to surrounding hill tribes.
- Support to Chinese missionaries sent from our local church.
What else are we up to?
Eirenee’
Is currently helping create and provide content for the Family Connection Foundations Annual Report completed for the Thai Government. She is so excited for the opportunity to help the Cho family take care of Luca and Aiden and continue learning Thai. One of her highlights for this month was working on a church committee to plan and host a Seder Dinner for the church on Good Friday. She also enjoyed helping with food purchases for distributing to Burmese families living in Chiang Mai. She has begun seeking and praying about where God is calling her to further minister. Will you join her in prayer for what God is calling her next to?
Ross
Continues to enjoy his time volunteering with LIFT International. He has completed an assessment of the organization and is now partnering with them to design their training and development program from the ground up. He has also been working in his role at church to develop opportunities for others to share in the great experience he has had as an intern. He has been partnering with the church elders to develop a youth pastoral internship program. He will likely transition this summer into a role that will oversee future interns with the church. If you know of anyone interested in this phenomenal opportunity here in Chiang Mai please share this advertisement with them to learn more about the position and how to apply.
